There is not a button on Snapchat that takes you to an editor where you can make the change, like on Twitter or other services. However, there is a solution that can help make the process a little less painless. You will have to create a new username and you will want to do it before you get rid of your old username.

If that sounds complicated, do not worry, we’ll guide you through the process!

How to change Snapchat username on iPhone and Android devices:

1. Start the Snapchat application.

2. Swipe down to access your profile.

3. Tap the configuration icon in the upper right.

4. Tap Sign out, it’s all the way down.

5. Once you have closed the session, click on Register. Complete the information requested, just be sure to use a different email address than the one you use with your current Snapchat account. Do not worry, you can change this later.

6. Swipe down to access your profile

7. Tap Add friends.

8. Tap ** Add from Contacts *.

9. Click Continue at the bottom of the screen, it will take a few seconds to appear.

10. Tap Accept in the pop-up window to allow Snapchat to access your contacts.

11. When your address book is uploaded, anyone who has a Snapchat username under their name instead of a phone number is using Snapchat, so add whoever you want.

12. Now sign in again to your old Snapchat account and scroll down to access your profile.

13. This time, tap on My friends and then tap on any user and your Snapchat username will appear on the screen. You will have to write this. You can omit the ones you know you have already added to the new account because they are in your address book.

14. Log back into your new Snapchat account.

15. Swipe down to access your profile.

16. ap on Add friends.

17. Tap Add by username.

18. Manually add the rest of your friends.

Alternatively, you can also trigger a message on your social networks to let people know you have a new Snapchat controller. As they add you, they will appear in the Added section of your profile.

Once you think you have finished with your old account, you can delete it. Just remember that once you delete it, you will not be able to access anything in it again. So be sure to see the new snapshots you have received since you will not have access to them later.

Once this is done, you can change your email address in Settings if you wish to return to your previous email address.

It is not the most elegant solution, but until Snapchat decides to let people change control, it is currently the only option.
