How to Create a Snapchat Geofilter on iPhone
You have not been anywhere before documenting it or taking pictures as an authentic proof that you have been in a special place and tell your friends. In addition to taking selfies in front of a statue or a building that is a known trademark of a city, you can use Snapchat to show your existence in a city by applying the geofilter in your photos.
Geofilter is a filter overlay for your photos on Snapchat, it’s like a stamp, a transparent image that is attached to your selfie photo. This filter is something like a form of writing or a work of art that represents a city. The geofilter of a city can only be used when it is actually in that city and is verified by Snapchat. So you can not cheat, if you’re in Las Vegas, you can only use the Las Vegas geofilter. This makes the geofilter on Snapchat an authentic proof that you’ve been in a particular city.
The geofilter is actually content created by the user, you can send your own homemade geofilter to Snapchat, if they approve it, all the people who visit your city will use the geofilter that you create. We will discuss how to send your own geofilter later.
As mentioned above, the geofilter can be used when you are in a particular city, which means that Snapchat should know where you are. To be able to know where you are, you must enable the location on your device, if you are using iOS devices, activate it from Settings> Privacy> Location services and turn on Snapchat. For Android users, you can do it in Settings> Location> Activate.
You must enable filters on Snapchat, so you can also use geofilters. Go to the configuration (gear icon in the top left), under “Additional services” tap “Manage”
Then you will see a slide button next to “Filter”, slide it to activate it and enable the filters in Snapchat.
After taking a selfie or photo, slide it to the right and you will know where you are and what geofilter you can use.
Sometimes, we occasionally have to try to be creators, we do not always use the work of others and we are only consumers. With Snapchat geofilters, you can be a creator whose work is used by many people, maybe it is not an invention of science, but it can become one of the little things you can be proud of.
There are several requirements to send your own geofilters on Snapchat. The image you create must be in PNG with a transparent background. The PNG image you send must be saved optimized for the web with a width of 1080px and 1920px in height. The file you send should not exceed 300KB. However, for the purpose of making geofilters, Snapchat has prepared templates that are available for Adobe Illustrator and Photoshop.
