Troubleshoot problems with the Yahoo account key

The account password increases security by sending a notice to your mobile phone instead of using a password to access the account. Use this guide to answer any questions or address any problems that may arise.

Disable account key

If you want to use a password again, learn how to disable the Account Key.

Use two-step verification

You cannot use two-step verification with the account key. If you want to use a password again, disable the Account Key and enable two-step verification.

Do not receive an account key

Try the following first:

• Allow or activate notifications: Enable notifications in the Yahoo Mail application and from your mobile device.
• Request another notification: Click Resend on the Yahoo page to generate a new notification.

I still don't get an account key:

1. Go to the Yahoo sign-in page
2. Enter your email address, then click Next.
3. Click Use text or email to sign in or Try another way to sign in.
4. Enter the missing digits of your phone number, then click Send.
5. If you have access to this phone, click Yes, send me a text message with a verification code.
6. You do not have access? You will have the option to verify your alternate email address.
7. Press or enter a verification code to confirm.
8. Click Continue to access your account.

Unable to login due to an "Uh-oh" error message

You will have to wait 24 hours before trying to log in because you exceeded the number of text messages allowed per day. After 24 hours, log in with the Yahoo Mail application on your mobile phone.
