HP printer won't turn on – how to troubleshoot

Even if the chance is a less, faulty connection or defective power cords could be the reason behind your issue. Make sure that there is a power to the wall outlet, and nothing is there that is preventing the printing machine from turning on. If both the conditions are not faulty, you are advised to check whether there is a cord failure for HP printer not turning on. The power button on your HP printer is more likely to be a soft-power switch. So, it won’t physically connect and disconnect power. Instead, the software may prevent the switch from operating if it is held down too briefly or too long. Follow the next troubleshooting methods if the given ones have not resolved your problem.

Restart the printer

1.     Unplug all cords connected to your printer and wait up to 60 seconds

2.     Then plugin only the power cord

3.     If your printing machine is large, it may have a physical power switch located near the power cord or below the access panel

Does your printer have built-in AC adapters?

It is not possible to test the cord if your HP printer has a single cord that is not supposed to be detached. In this case, you will have to hire a professional service to deal with the issue – HP printer not turning on. The printer end is likely the common C13 connector also used by computers and monitors if your power cord is detachable. In this case, you are suggested to use a different cord to determine whether the original cord is faulty.

Make advanced testing of an AC Adapter

Do you have a break in the wires at the plug? You can resolve it by replacing the plug. You can also use an electrical meter to check the operation of an AC adapter and conductivity of the low voltage wires. You can buy replacement plugs from electronics specialty stores.

Does your printer have external AC adapters?

We suggest using a different cord if your printer uses a detachable power cord. It will determine whether the original is faulty or not. A different AC adapter and low-voltage cord can only be tried in this regard. Alternatively, you can use the adapter and low-voltage wiring for a different printer. If you can do that, you need to take the computer to a shop.
