Creating a Gmail account should be an advanced process, but sometimes it causes problem for some users particularly when Google doesn't accept their phone number or  email during sign-up.

This issue can be confusing, especially when the information seem perfectly valid. If you have get the message “Phone number not accepted” or “Email not accepted” while trying to register for Gmail, the potential reasons for this issue and how to resolve it.

You may be unable to make a new Gmail account due to mobile number or email restrictions often due to security measures or previous account activity. Google limits the number of accounts a phone number can be linked with for security reasons.

Here is a potential reasons and solutions of Email and phone number rejection:

  1. Phone Number Already in Use

One of the most common reasons a phone number is not accepted during Gmail account creation is because it is already linked to the maximum number of Google accounts. Google allows a single phone number to be associated with only a few accounts primarily for security.

Solution:

User can use a different phone number that has not been associated to other Gmail accounts. If you have used all your phone numbers, you can opt to skip the phone verification step (if Google allows it) or use a trusted family member's number with their permission.

  1. VoIP or Virtual Numbers Not Accepted

Google has increasingly broken down on virtual numbers, such as those from services such as TextNow, Google Voice, or other VoIP providers. These numbers are typically used for skipping verification systems and, as such, are often identified.

Solution:

Use a valid phone number from a recognized carrier. Avoid using free online number services, which are frequently blocked by Google.

  1. Suspicious Activity

Google’s algorithms can detect suspicious patterns during account creation. If you’ve tried creating multiple accounts from the same device, IP address, or within a short time period, your phone number or recovery email might be identified.

Solution:

Try after several days for attempting again, and use a different network or device. Also, avoid using VPNs during sign-up process, as this can drive Google’s security measures.

  1. Incorrect Format

Sometimes the country code or formatting of the phone number may not be correct.

Solution:

User should ensure that they have entered phone number with correct country code and in a standard format.

  1. Temporary Google Restrictions

At times, Google might temporarily block phone number or email verification due to technical problem, ongoing maintenance, or a increase in suspicious activity from particular regions.

Solution:

Try again later. These problems generally resolve in several hours or days. Checking forums such as the Google Support Community can help confirm if others are experiencing the same problem.

  1. Using Temporary Emails

Using a  temporary email address as the recovery email, will be rejected by Google itself.

Solution:

User should use a valid, long-term email provider such as Outlook, Yahoo, or even another address as an account recovery email.

  1. Maximum Account Limit

Creating high number of accounts from a specific IP address or device will be addressed by Google. If maximum numbers of accounts have been created from the same address or device, Google may block further registrations even if your phone number or email is new.

Solution:

Try creating the account on a different device or network or wait for 24–48 hours and attempt again.

  1. Age or Region Restrictions

Google facilitates age restrictions for account creation. Certain countries may also have different rules due to local rules and regulations..

Solution:

Ensure you are entering a valid birth-date and that your country is not on any restricted list. If you are underage, a parent or guardian may need to create a supervised account for you.

  1. Browser or Cache related problems

Sometimes your browser may be outdated or corrupted interfering with the Gmail creation process.

Solution:

Clear all browser cache and cookies or try signing up in incognito mode. You can also try a different browser or device.

Problem arise during the Gmail sign-up process due to phone number or email can be it irritating but in most cases, the can be resolved. Although it is due to maximum times using a number, use of virtual services, or technical problems, understanding Google’s security protocols is important to resolving the issue.
