Apple ID is an authentication process accessed by Apple for iPhone, iPad, Mac and other Apple devices. Apple ID holds user’s personal info and settings, and other features.  Forgetting Apple ID’s password is not pretty much fine because you can’t access your data. So what now? Don’t freak out because “To err is human”.

Apple provides numerous ways to recover its ID, password and you can easily recover it. You can reset your password depending on the security layer you use for your Apple ID. It can be phone number, two-step verification, two-factor authentication.

1)   Password reset with Two-factor authentication

If you are having two-factor authentication enabled in your iPhone you can easily reset password.

·        Make sure your device is iOS 12.4 or later updated version.

·        Visit settings.

·     Click on Name -> Password & security -> Change Password. Follow the onscreen steps to complete the process.

·        For iOS 12.4 or later versions, click iCloud -> [your name] -> Password & security -> Change Password and follow the onscreen process.

If you aren’t signed with iCloud, visit Settings-> click on “sign in to your [device]”->don’t have an Apple ID or forgot it”, further follow the instructions.

2)    Accounts with or without security question

·   Visit your Apple ID account page in your browser and tap on “Forgot Apple ID or password”.

·        Enter your Apple ID in a given field and select the option to reset your password.

·        Click on Continue. Further, select how to reset your password:

1.  If you have security questions appended with your account, select “Answer security questions” and follow the rest onscreen steps.

2.    For email select “Get an email” option. For password reset check the email sent to your primary or recovery email.

3.      Use two-step verification or two-factor authentication for the recovery key.

·        After password reset sign in with your new password details. Update your password in device settings if necessary. 

3)   Two-step verification

·   Open your Apple ID account page in your browser and tap on “Forgot Apple ID or password”. If the phone number is asked follow the steps for two-factor authentication.

·   Enter your Apple ID in the given field, select the option for password reset and tap on Continue tab.

·        Then enter your recovery key for further two-step verification.

·   Select a trusted device and you will get a verification code on your device. Enter the verification code.

·        Further, set a new password, then select Reset Password.

·     After password reset sign in with your new password details. Update your password in device settings if necessary.
